Audit of the Quality System
The quality-audit is an important tool used to verify whether a product, a process, a programme or an organization comply with the specific and normative requirements. Therefore, it is an independent methodical study which verifies one or more elements of the quality management system, their operations, their conformity to the models, their results and the effectiveness of their application, with the purpose of observing the contract and of improving the organization’s performance.
Currently ISO 19011 is the standard giving the guidelines for quality and/or environmental management systems auditing
As for the UNI EN ISO 9001, audits can be carried out for the following purposes:
-
establishing a starting point for the implementation of a Quality Management System and an opportunity for the improvement of quality performance;
-
Controlling and assessing the progress in the quality development, assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of the current Quality Management System;
-
certifying the appropriateness of the system according to the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard, for potential certification (“third-party” audit carried out by an Accredited Certification Body)
-
providing an internal official control in order to verify whether the systems goes on and asset their capacity and effectiveness (first-party audit or Internal Inspectional Verification carried out by the internal personnel independent from the functions under verification, as provided by UNI EN ISO 9001)
-
evaluating a current or potential supplier with regard to its ability to supply marks and/or services of proper quality (second-party audit).
